Palace Bar

If 12th Street Beach is the unofficial home of the LGBT sun worshiping community, then the Palace is the LGBT Cantina of choice serving fast casual food and strong cocktails to an international clientele for decades. With a restaurant motto, “Every Queen Needs a Palace,” it’s easy to see how this funky diner celebrates South Beach’s gay community. Offering a range of activities from night time drag shows to Sunday afternoon tea dances, the Palace is all about fun in the sun. Thursday through Sunday evenings, the cafe comes alive with cabaret performances, professional dancers and drag divas strutting their stuff around 7pm. A weeknight Absolut Cocktail Hour from 3-6pm features vodka cocktails for just $6.

Quiet by day and wild by night, the Palace welcomes locals and tourists to drink, dine and discover how to walk on the wild side. Drag divas strut their stuff throughout the restaurant, rushing out to the sidewalks and onto passing tour busses to bring visitors into the show. With no other gay beach bars on Ocean Drive, the sudden rush of a giant lip-synching drag queen dodging out to stop traffic can be a once in a lifetime experience!

While the Palace offers a beach-friendly a la carte menu until 10pm, on Sundays you can start the day with an endless mimosa-fuelled brunch with two sittings at 11:30am and 2pm including a prix-fixe menu, and a truly wild drag performance. The rest of the week is all about comfort foods like breakfast al fresco (served until 2pm) or salads, wraps, sandwiches and burgers. A wide variety of bar-friendly snacks like chicken wings and nachos makes it easy to refresh and refuel after a busy day tanning your 6-pack. Relaxed and casual, this indoor/outdoor cafe has no dress code unless you fancy a spin on 8 inch stilettos and a giant wig.
