Prime 112 | Ocean Drive’s Late Night Gem

Prime 112

Prime 112

The term “steakhouse” usually conjures up past memories of wood paneling, dated décor and over-aged, washed up servers who have not a sparkle left in their eyes. Prime 112 Steakhouse, on the other hand, is the exact opposite of what most red meat enthusiasts would expect. The fine balance of steakhouse dining with plenty of modern and innovative twists makes this restaurant one of Ocean Drive’s most popular places to see and be seen.

Originally built in 1915 and Miami Beach’s first hotel (Browns Hotel), this two-story property is perfect for the hip and trendy crowds which Prime 112 attracts on a nightly basis. If “star gazing” is written down on your plan of things to do while in Miami, you definitely want to book a weekend table at Prime 112 Steakhouse to catch a glimpse of your favorite celebrity or professional athlete.

Speaking of booking tables: it is an absolute must at Prime 112! Because of the restaurants growing recognition and star-studded status, waiting for a table has become quite regular – reservation or not. A word of advice: If you are impatient or don’t do well with crowds and noise, this steakhouse might not be the right cut for you. But if you’re in the mood for a phenomenal menu, up beat atmosphere and some of the best steaks in Florida, Prime 112 Steakhouse is where the party is at!

Once seated, you will receive world class service with very little fluff. The service is fast, efficient and worth every minute waited prior to squeezing into your table. The wait staff is superbly educated on the chef’s specialties and will not hesitate to offer a mouth watering up sell, such as the four cheese truffle mac or fried Oreos with ice cream.

Of course, their selection of steak is out of this world. Their steak menu is as follows:

* 8 oz. Filet Mignon
* 12 oz. Filet Mignon
* 14 oz. Ny Strip
* 20 oz. Ny Strip
* 20 oz. T-Bone
* 22 oz. Bone-in Rib Eye
* 30 oz. Bone-in Rib Eye for 2
* 48 oz. Porterhouse for 2

With each USDA prime steak dry aged for 21-28 days, the term “melt in your mouth” seems to fall short a tad bit. Throw this together with a killer selection of chops, racks and gourmet steak sauces – such as horseradish cream and chimichurri – it would take an emotionally numb person to not want to head down to 112 Ocean Drive and have a stab at Prime.
